Starcademy Comments

I would like to begin by saying I am deeply touched and honoured to have received these e-mails. I've been writing for as long as I can remember and having people I don't even know saying they enjoy my stories is the greatest compliment anyone could ever give me. I write for all of you, not for me, and I try to please everyone who reads my stories. Thank you all!

ABOUT 'EYE OF THE FUTURE' AND 'LAST STAND'

I just wanted to Email and say that I absolutely LOVE the new story you just got out, with Elmira becoming the Empress. I LOVE ELMIRA STORIES! I AM A SPUNG-OBSESSED PSYCHO! Ignore my ramblings.... Uhh. Can't wait to see the sequel.

Loves,

Leah

Dear Queen Azura,

I just finished "Eye of the Future". This is, in my opinion, your most promising story yet. I am looking forward to part two (although calling the divisions of part one 'parts' was a little confusing). This story was great set-up, I hope the pay off will be equally enjoyable. Incidentally I did guess that Radu was Dogstar but was still shocked when it turned out I was right, Radu's confrontations with Harlan and Elmira should be interesting, as should the Kaesars motivation for their attacks.

Sincerely,

-niner

Oh, my gosh. Wow. Wow. This is _good_! _Very_ good! No, way better than _good_, this is.... supercalifragilisticexpialidotious! (Don't ask, i always say that when I can't explain something.) Wow. Really, _really_ good. I'm speechless (rare occurrence!).

I meant every word of it (especially "supercalifragilisticexpialidotious"!)! That was..... Wow. I loved it! Yeah, i suppose it's safe to say it went out with a bang. 8^)

Okay, so I havent exactly been around lately...but I just finished reading Last Stand, and OH MY GOSH, you're a wonderful writer. You sure turned Radu around, but I think it was a good thing...I mean, usually people expect everyone to be all nice and happy, even after 20 years. But in the story, Radu was right. Things happen, people change, it's not always a happy ending....I really REALLY liked it and I look forward to reading more of your work. You truly have impressed me, and although I would never match up to you, I hope to be just as good as you some day. It's truly an honor to know you, you're one of my favorite SC authors...keep up the wonderful work, and please, for the sake of everyone, keep writing. Dont hold back any talent, it would be a shame for me and many other loyal fans to your work.

I was rereading "Last Stand" and I just wanted to say I thought the very end was incredible! The only mistake that you made was the crew boarded the Christa around 25 years ago, not 20. If they had boarded it 20 years ago, that would have been at their graduation :) Otherwise, excellent job!

UNFORTUNATELY, NOT ALL COMMENTS WERE POSITIVE... BUT I APPRECIATE ALL FORMS OF CRITICISM

I sincerely don't mean to be rude, but I hated "Graduation." I can't believe the ending, where Elmira marries someone else and Radu runs away who-knows-where. I also can't stand people who make up recurring characters. Generally, I think your Starcademy series should be spaced. But I do really like your "Stitch In Time" series. My favorite was "Earth Slave."You did make a few mistakes in your "It's All Greek To Me" story. You said Radu cut his hair and made a wig for Rosie to wear. That's impossible. Radu can't cut his hair due to molecular density. Also, how did Radu, Rosie and Suzee know how to speak Greek? I'm really sorry, but I just didn't like most of your stories (seeing as your fanfic was mostly made up of the Starcademy stories.)

Azura,

I've always been a fan of your writing. You're one of the best authors of SC fiction on the Net. I don't think that your last two stories, "Graduation" and "Eye of the Future I" are as good as your previous work, though. "Graduation" is really depressing. For a while, I was left wondering what would happen after that, so thanks for writing "Eye of the Future". I won't say anything on that one until I read the next part, but I did guess who DogStar was after the name was first used. Who else would use the name DogStar? It's too bad you don't have time to write anymore. I hope you'll find the time at some point.

EMILY E-MAILED ME SOME QUESTIONS BASED ON THE TWO FANFIC PIECES AND I THOUGHT I SHOULD POST THEM INCASE THEY'VE CROSSED ANYONE ELSE'S MIND

1. Davenport and Goddard died, but Goddard would be only about 70. If the life span kept getting longer (this is, after all, over 200 years from now) the average person might live until he/she was 90. This would mean that Goddard would be less then 70 and Davenport less than 60. Could you explain why they died so early?

Well, I didn't really want to explain their deaths, but I was thinking something along the line of accidental deaths. Maybe Goddard was lost in space again, or the ship he was commanding was destroyed, and Davenport was ill with a terminal disease and died that way. I wanted to concentrate more on the space cases but felt I had to say what happened to the teachers.

2. Suzee is said to be 45. She was only 16 on the Christa, and she probably aged (tops) 3 years on Yensid. This would mean she would be, tops, 39. Why the additional 6 years?

I said she was 45? Oh. I thought I made everyone around 40-ish. I figured the graduated from Starcademy around 20 yrs or so since the Starcademy storie spanned several years and they spend a few years on the Christa. Since it was 20 years since Graduation, they would all be around 40.

3. Why hasn't Catalina married?

Cat never found time to marry. She moved to Yensid as Ambassador to the UPP right after Graduation and kinda grew apart from everyone. She dedicated herself to her career instead of starting a family.

4. Why would Elmira tell Radu about their "destiny" if she married someone else?

At the end of 'Last Stand', Radu and Elmira were together. Elmira knew that, in order to secure her throne, she had to marry Kairn to get enough votes to make the lesser lords happy. Kairn wanted to be Warlord and Spung law says that only the Emperor can be Warlord over all the Spung. Elmira had no choice, but she knew that somehow she and Radu would eventually be together, which was why she was so upset when Radu vanished without a trace.
