King of Thebes
(2003)

In the Mediterranean, during the Bronze Age, there was a story about a young girl who was seduced by a god and carried away on a bull surfaced. Her name was Europa, and she had four brothers who founded four kingdoms in Greece and Asia.

This is the story of the youngest brother, Cadmus, and his journey across the Aegean to find his kindapped sister, and the founding of the city of Thebes.

Characters:

Cadmus - youngest prince of Tyre, who is brave, adventurous, and protective of his sister
Desma - opinionated and brash priestess of the Goddess, charged with converting the mainland
Ibycus -coward and poet, he is searching for his muse
Theron - a hunter without a city to call his own
Corydon - faithful slave of Cadmus, who regards him like a son

Currently my major project. I hope to expand this story into a series of seven book, which trace the line of Cadmus through to its end. Future stories will be about the tragic lives of his four daughters, the god Dionysus, the story of Oedipus, and a retelling of the plays "Seven Against Thebes" and "Antigone". This is the first book, and is complete.

Length of Story: 87 pages.

Length of Sample Chapter: 24 pages
